Andrew's aunt Bev had cancer 5 times before her doctor put her on a vegan diet. Since then, she's been cancer free. Not a coincidence.
So I'm thinking about it. It would be a HUGE change though so I'm not jumping into anything, but I'm very seriously leaning towards yes.
In other news: summer term is over and it feels so gooooood! Each term I get closer to graduating I feel more and more that I am in fact accomplishing something even though it feels eternal. I'm only 23, but considering the rest of my friends are now working on getting into grad school, my measly little Bachelors seems pretty insignificant. I also know though that all of those people either had their college paid for by their parents, or lived/live at home. They were not wards of the state, they do not come from the same background, they did not work at a multinational corporation before returning to school, and even with their degrees I made more money than most of them are currently at age 20. I also married the most amazing man on the planet who loves me even when it's hard.
So I don't feel so bad. At least I'm not uneducated and popping out a bunch of kids, doomed to a life of bitterness and anger at other people's success. The main ending point for most people with my background.
Belize is in less than three weeks!!!! SO EXCITED!!!!
Also, currently in love with Rae. Seriously. Her family is amazing, despite their humanity, and I appreciate that she is so close. It is going to seriously suck balls when she moves back to no po.
The end.

the whole idea that there is a specific path that every 18 year old is supposed to launch onto is absurd. i think that you've carved your own way, in your own time and you're succeeding! it makes me so proud of you! you're not waiting for someone to help- you're dreaming and DOING!
and i'm in love with you too. i feel so amazed and honored to be your friend and i love that you seem to somehow fit in with our weird little family. somehow it's like you should have been here all along.
and nopo isn't that far away. just come hang out after bingo. heh.
OH! and vegan....!!! i'm excited for you to go on this adventure! however, do you think you should maybe wait until AFTER balize? or will it matter?
you might get my ass in gear... i've been rolling this around in my head for the last year and going vegetarian was the first step. i totally believe that veganism has cured your aunt and i think we could all benefit from a life less influenced by animal products.
keep me posted (you will).
Oh girl, yes we're going to wait until after Belize! :) I'll probably end up eating rat or something equally disgusting while down there...plus with Andrew and Birch we have access to all the meat alternatives my little heart could dream of since nobody else on staff goes meatless. I was a veggie when he worked there last and we still have stuff in the freezer. For cereal.
Secondly-I am currently cooking the roast we thawed for family dinner(and by family dinner I mean your family, all of them, at my house. lol) and I would really like a hunk of it.
Thirdly-I so appreciate your encouragement and edification, and your ability to find the humor in basically everything (YOU ARE THE APOCALYPSE!!!), it really makes me want to be around you and your awesome kids.
Fourthly-you should TOTALLY go vegan with me. We can pine for cheese together.
Loves.
i think vegan CCAN be really healthy, but it's hard to do it. my cousin Amalia is someone i consider a health guru- a yoga pilates teacher, meditator and now getting licensed to practice holistic nutritional counceling, and she was a vegan for a few years but just didn't feel right the whole time. her 'engine' just wouldn't start the same, no matter how she messed with the balance of foods and supplements.
i know people do it successfully but every body is different. i do mostly gluten free and that works wonderfully for me.
